We’ve used rush matting on many of our shoots; the natural tones work well with most looks and there’s something reassuring about using a product steeped in centuries of tradition. The team at Rush Matters spend the summer months harvesting English freshwater bulrush from some of the great rivers of England. The variation in weather during this process naturally produces beautiful shades of colour. Prolonged sun gently bleaches to warm honey tones. During windy weather the colours have a more vivid green/blue hue. There are no chemicals used in any part of the process. It is entirely natural. Vintage finds, made easy…
One of the best ways to turn a house into a home is to add one or two carefully chosen antiques; it stops everything looking too new and introduces a more relaxed, lived-in feel. But where to begin? Vinterior, a new online marketplace, could be the answer. There is a vast selection of gorgeous finds, handily subdivided by category and there’s also an edit by designer Matthew Williamson. Scrolling through the many gorgeous antiques, we came across this beauty – a French 19th century Napoleon Armchair (covered in our Louis linen), yours for £960.
Lunch, dinner, bed – or all three
Seeing as we’ve all been stuck at home for many months, we think we deserve a treat. And we can’t think of anywhere nicer than our favourite hotel, the Pig-on the beach. Situated on Dorset’s sandy coastline – only a hop and skip from the Linwood head office – there’s a charming sea view conservatory restaurant, which uses produce grown in the established kitchen garden, and if you fancy a little pampering head to the Shepherd’s Hut (above). We’ll see you there…
