Expert advice: Sophie Robinson shares her favourite Linwood designs

We love interiors expert Sophie Robinson and her fearless use of colour and bold patterns. From her appearances on BBC’s Interior Design Masters to her Instagram posts that are always brightening up our Insta feed, Sophie’s passion for colour shines in all her work. At Linwood, we pride ourselves on an exciting use of colour, so teaming up with Sophie makes perfect sense. We asked Sophie to share her top Linwood picks with you, with the focus being on what else….colour!

Omega Lemon

(Not so) mellow yellow…

Who can resist our iconic Omega Velvet collection? With 100 colours of plush Italian velvet, all with a stain resistant finish, these versatile velvets are suitable for virtually any interiors project. Sophie’s chosen Lemon as her favourite shade, a vibrant yellow velvet: “I’m a massive fan of the Linwood Omega plain velvets. They come in such a huge spectrum of colours you can find just the perfect shade for upholstery or cushions. No surprise I love their very bright and rich tones. This shade, called Lemon, just casts through a scheme and is a real head turner. I used it on a headboard against a very strong wallpaper, but it also looks awesome with monochrome”.

Tango Weaves - Grasshopper

Wonderful weaves

Next we have Polka in colourway Grasshopper from the Tango Weaves collection.  This weave fabric is unusual as it breaks the boundaries of traditional weave designs that are more static in pattern. With its abstract wiggly design, here’s what Sophie likes about this contemporary fabric:  “Green is having its moment in interior design right now and it brings a shot of wellbeing to any interior. This weave is just the feel-good shot I need. I love its lushness and the squiggle design is fresh and versatile.”

Omega Prints - On the River

The showstopper

On the River has been one of the most popular designs since Omega Prints launched early last year, particularly Aqua (shown here). With a midnight blue background and pops of vibrant coral and turquoise, this patterned velvet fabric is a real showstopper. Here’s what Sophie has to say about the design: “Every now and then you have a heart stopping moment, and it was love at first sight when I saw the launch of this collection. But it’s this print with the neon coral popping against the dark background that gives me all the squeals. My wish would be to use it to cover a sofa, but an oversized headboard would show off this large scale print equally well. Talk about creating a focal point!”

Les Fauves - Peacock

Fabulous florals

Last but certainly not least is Les Fauves in colourway Peacock form the Omega Prints collection. Sophie chose to update her home office chair with this floral velvet fabric, shown here in an installation in the London Eye: “Big, blowsy, unapologetic florals find a home in any maximalist interior scheme and this one is all out fabulous. I upholstered my office chair in it, and it brings a smile to my face every day! #banthebeige” We love this attitude to colour, it really can bring a smile to your face which is why we believe it’s so important to be brave with colour in your home.
